Make your Web site part of a profit-building plan
Supplement the marketing benefits of your Web site with other activities. For instance:
- Build visibility in your community. Publish an information column in the local paper. Conduct seminars for bankers or attorneys in your practice area (sample topics: new tax issues, how to read financial statements, or the tax ramifications of divorce).
- Keep your brochures on display in your reception area for walk-ins, and put a note on the display rack suggesting that clients take extra copies for their friends or relatives. Be sure your Web site address is imprinted on all your brochures.
- Publish your Web site address in your yellow page and other ads. List yourself under more than one heading in the yellow pages — tax preparation, bookkeeping, and accounting, for example, even though your display ad may appear in only one section.
- Contact new businesses regularly. Prepare a letter and
brochure that your secretarial staff automatically sends out to new businesses in your area. The letter and brochure should be cordial and should inform the business newcomer about your accounting services and invite them to your Web site. A good first impression is essential; personalize your letter. - Be sure to put your Web site address on your client newsletter. A client newsletter is the cornerstone of every accounting firm's marketing program. Mention your Web site in every issue.
